A pair of remarkable marked tobacco jars from the Three Bells Pottery. These large jars were used to store long twists or plugs of tobacco. They are decorated with a West Indian or American Indian figure symbolizing the Americas.  In the second half of the 18th century, tobacconists became important clients of the Dutch delftware factories.   The various types of tobacco were stored in this type of jar decorated with the name of the variety on the front.
