Willem Janszoon Blaeu (1571-1638)

From the golden age of Dutch cartography, this is one of the few maps of North America produced by Willem Janszoon Blaeu, one of the most important cartographers of the period. The three decorative borders with city views or plans(Havana, Rio, etc.) across the top and native American portrait figures (some taken from de Bry) on each side give the map enormous visual interest.
Our map is the third state and has the Latin text on the verso. It was probably issued in an atlas after 1621, probably circa 1630.bsp;
