The Classical sideboard was purchased, in Fleming County, Kentucky by descendants of Kentucky portrait artist Oliver Fraser ( 1808-1864) and Kentucky arts historian Edna Talbott Whitney. The sideboard and its Fleming County origin was documented in Whitley’s 1969 publication, A Checklist of Kentucky Cabinet Makers from 1775 to 1859. A photo of the sideboard can be found in the Illustrations Section, photo “SS”.
A sideboard with very similar turnings and almost certainly from the same cabinet shop is illustrated in Collecting Kentucky, page 322. This sideboard has a Boyle County provenance.
