Thomas Jefferson Craddock (no know relation to the founding father and president) is said to have been a Civil War veteran who made walking canes from wood he harvested near Jefferson’s tomb at Monticello. The canes record the achievements of President Jefferson and in particular his founding of the University of Virginia. The canes also include images of the Rotunda, an American Shield, a rabbet, turtle and fish. The metal tip is missing, otherwise the cane is in excellent condition.
