Diminutive Press
Walnut and Poplar
Piedmont Virginia, Patrick County
Circa 1835
34.25″ T 27.5″ W 16″ D

The proportions of this diminutive press suggest that it was designed and built for use by a young person. It is quite well constructed with paneled mortise and tenon doors, and paneled sides, also mortise, tenoned and pinned. The tall, arched gallery is distinctive as are the unusual and charming flared turned feet. The press retains much of its original surface which has mellowed to a pleasing patina. The press descended in the Tatum Family of Patrick County, Virginia from which it was acquired in the late 20th century.
