Hiram Clark apprenticed with George Rizer of Cumberland, MD until 1814.

The oval cheekpiece inlay with an engraved eagle and the tendril carving are devices used by the Cumberland School and the Q finial of the patchbox is identical to another signed  Clark rifle.
