This is a quilted coverlet with traditional red and green appliques popular in the mid-Atlantic region during third quarter of the 19th century. Appliqued border.

The coverlet was made by Sarah Young of Mount Airy, Maryland. Sarah and her husband Jacob were farmers and members of the Locust Grove Church, an early Brethren congregation in Frederick County.
