The Virginia Manufactory of Arms only produced the Second Model Sword for a short period – 1806-1808. A numeric “2” stamped on the left side of the blade near the hilt may indicate that the sword was issued to the Second Regiment of the Fourth Division in Accomack County. The blade, which measures approximately 40″, has not been cut down as was often the case for swords adapted for use by Confederate forces during the Civil War.
