This hand raised silver cup relates closely to the famed Jefferson cups designed for Monticello by Thomas Jefferson. Emond worked for only a few years in Petersburg before moving southward to Raleigh and spent the balance of his career in North Carolina. The form suggests that the cup was made early in his career and quite likely in Petersburg.
